Human biomonitoring initiative (HBM4EU): Human biomonitoring guidance values (HBM-GVs) derived for cadmium and its compounds

چکیده

The methodology agreed within the framework of HBM4EU project is used in this work to derive HBM-GVs for general population (HBM-GVGenPop) and workers (HBM-GVWorker) exposed cadmium (Cd) its compounds. For Cd, a significant number epidemiological studies with dose–response relationships are available, particular kidney effects. These effects described terms relation between urinary Cd (U-Cd) or blood (B-Cd) levels low molecular weight proteinuria (LMWP) markers like beta-2-microglobulin (?2M) retinol-binding protein (RBP). In order workers, an assessment data from evaluations conducted by national international organisations was undertaken. work, it appeared relevant select renal as critical effect both groups, however, differences (including sensitive people) (considered homogenous adults who should not be if they suffer diseases) required selection different key (i.e. HBM-GVGenPop at workplace HBM-GVWorker). U-Cd, 1 µg/g creatinine (creat) recommended older than 50 years, based on robust meta-analysis performed EFSA (EFSA, 2009a). To take into account accumulation human body throughout life, threshold ‘alert’ values according age were estimated U-Cd. At workplace, HBM-GVWorker 2 ?g/g creat derived study Chaumont et al., (2011) addition recommendation HBM-GVworker B-Cd 5 µg/L also proposed. U-Cd similar biological limit value (BLV) set new amendment European Carcinogens Mutagens Directive June 2019 (2 U-Cd).

Human Biomonitoring in Switzerland

In her Postulate of 20 March 2008, National Councillor Moser (Green Liberal, Canton Zurich) requested the Federal Council to consider the introduction of systematic analysis of various groups of chemicals (pesticides, PCBs, UV filters, etc.) to which the Swiss population is exposed. In its response of 6 June 2008, the Federal Council stated that it was prepared to investigate how existing resea...

Human biomonitoring: research goals and needs.

Epidemiological studies have taken advantage of a number of strategies to monitor human populations for mortality, incidence, and exposure to hazardous environmental agents. These studies have been compromised by the lack of individual exposure assessment data that precisely quantified internal dose. As methods improve in analytical chemistry and molecular biology, direct biological monitoring ...

Derivation of Health Based Human Biomonitoring Values for Pcb in Human Blood Samples

Introduction Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) are persistent synthetic organochlorines. Due to their lipophilicity they accumulate in the food chain and in human lipid tissue and can cause a variety of dose-dependent adverse health effects in different tissues and organs. Although their prohibition in the early 1980ies led to a significant decrease of the body burden of the population, PCBs are...

Human biomonitoring: state of the art.

Human biomonitoring (HBM) of dose and biochemical effect nowadays has tremendous utility providing an efficient and cost effective means of measuring human exposure to chemical substances. HBM considers all routes of uptake and all sources which are relevant making it an ideal instrument for risk assessment and risk management. HBM can identify new chemical exposures, trends and changes in expo...

Applying bioethical principles to human biomonitoring

Bioethical principles are widely used as a normative framework in areas of human research and medical care. In recent years there has been increasing formalization of their use in public health decisions. The "traditional bioethical principles" are applied in this discussion to the important issue human biomonitoring for environmental exposures. They are: (1) Autonomy--Also known as the "respec...
